My Fantasy Football Obsession

With the 2014 NFL season upon us, my thoughts have been generally drifting toward my fantasy football drafts. Yes, drafts, plural. At the moment I’m in two leagues. I could very easily see myself being part of one or two more. But, I like my family. And I think they like me. I’m fairly certain they would like me less if I was doing more with fantasy football than I already do.

I’m writing this blog on Thursday, 8/28/14. My first draft was last night. It was an auction draft done online with a bunch of my old friends from college. I think I did fairly well. I haven’t been happy with my quaterbacks the last few years, so I feel very fortunate to have Aaron Rodgers this year. Along with him, I have Calvin Johnson, Vernon Davis, Trent Richardson, Emmanuel Sanders, Justin Tucker, C.J. Anderson, and the Rams Defense. I have a few others decent Tight Ends on my bench. I need to do some work regarding my running backs, but overall I’m happy with my team going into week 1. This is a 14 team league. Last year I finished 10th. My goal every year is to win, but I suppose any improvement over last year will suffice.

I have my second draft this Sunday. It’s with some of my local friends, done in person, and a snake format. Totally different than my first draft. We’ll have to wait and see how that goes. Last year I had a great run at the end of the season and ended up gettign 2nd in the league. I would’ve like the trophy, but for my first year in that league, I can’t complain.

I know this is terribly uninteresting to some of you, and I promise to vary the topics from week to week. But if you’ve made it this far, thanks for joining me. If you would like me to blog about a particular topic, I welcome suggestions. Again, drop me a line whenever you like.

Good luck to all those out there in your drafts. Unless you’re in my league. If that’s the case I hope everything just falls apart for you during the draft on Sunday.

Now, I better get back to my family, before they start to like me a little less…

And with that, I wish everyone out there a safe and healthy week.
